These are two beautiful porcelain dolls. They were given to me my grandmother, when I was about 9 or 10. As you can see they are in pretty good shape. Although I did tangle up the hair a little. I always had a thing for styling hair.

There's a new show that premiered two weeks ago. It was created specifically for the Christian cluster, since there are a lot of secular shows out now. It is about a girl named Nikki who has to spend her summer with her cousin Babs. Nikki sees it as a big waste of time. She refers to her cousin Babs as "Barbie", because she's very giddy. She also feels that Babs is very different from her, because she home schooled. I found the show to be amusing. You can watch all the episodes online at purgatoryusa. The next episode will be airing November 16th.

Bible Quiz Trophies

I have decided to participate in "Show and Tell Friday". This is a picture of trophies I have won from bible quizzing. Maybe you have this activity at your church. This year we are studying the book of Luke.

Now that I'm homeschooled again it will be easier for me to focus and study my material. Most of my competition is amongst members of my own church team.Our church has two teams, so at competitions we have to compete against each other. It's always very fun.

Participating in Bible quizzing has helped me learn more about God's word. I am really excited about my next quiz competition.

Hello all you bloggers out there,
I am back! This is my ninth grade year and I am a homeschooler again. My last day of school was two tuesdays ago. I am getting back into the homeschool mode being that public school is totally different. I like them both but there are just different expectations. Well I just wanted to give everyone a reason to start checking my blog every once in a while. I will try to keep up with regular posting. My criteria might be different then before, although I am keeping the crochet critter posts. Can't wait to get back into the groove.

This weeks crafts is a wristlet and some hair clips. I actually have a pink wristlet that is mainly done, but I kinda messed up on it so I have to make some alterations.

I found a great pattern and actually tried it before telling you all I was going to do it. Unfortunately the tunic didn't turn out so great, although in time I will take another shot at it. Well I have been working on more clutch purses. I also sewed a pink skirt purse just like my mom's. And I even went the extra mile to do decorative stitches on the handle. (pics below) I also found a great and easy pattern for crocheted slippers . They are adorable. The pattern was for Mary Jane slippers but I changed the way I made mine so they're ballerina slippers. The pattern didn't tell what size it was for. So the first pair I made was a pink pair for my sister because the part of the shoe where your toes go was a little tight. For my size I did 7 sc in the chain 1 space and I made the flap that comes over your foot 3 1/2 inches and the whole shoe was 8 1/2 inches. (this is the crochet language so if you don't crochet don't worry about it). I also made a larger pink pair for me and a black pair for my mom.

Happy Valentines Day

This morning I recieved these things from my dad and two younger brothers. You would think it was a set but actually my dad brought the basket, the bear/lotion, and the candy box separately. It all came together nicely. My little sister recieved the same thing but her set is red. I just have a wonderful dad, and my brothers are great also. Dont you agree?

I was so pitiful last week. Usually my mom has to tell me to stop crocheting but all she did was ask me "When are you going to start on another project. I'm usually a crochet-aholic. I guess I just started to get down in the dumps when I realized I was really cutting it short with the teeny-tiny balls of yarn I had left. Luckily for Valentines Day my grandmother sent me some money. So today I get to go buy some more yarn for the tunic I have been wanting to work on. Crochet Critter

Lately I have really been spending all my time crocheting. I have only finished four projects so far but I'm working on my fifth. I have posted my projects below. The first project I started on was terrible. The pattern was cool but the instructions didn't seem like they were correct or maybe it's just me.

I am a little fustrated because after I finish this project I don't have enough yarn for another. So I will be on a crochet break for a while (sigh).

Masterpiece Theater

Okay I am just asking so I can verify with you all and make sure I'm not mistaking. Isn't ETV suppose to be a young child's educational channel?

Well I thought so too until I started watching "Masterpiece Theater" two weeks ago. This series comes on every Sunday at 9p.m. It's mini shows that act out the different books by Jane Austen.

In my opinion they do a great job. They only part I was very disappointed about the first time I watched it was the amount of romance there was. I admit I had to turn the channel a good number of times.

If you look past that the shows are great. I still watch them although I record them on our DVR first so I have the option of fast-forwarding past inappropiate parts.

The Gift of Homemade Gifts

This year our family decided to make homemade gifts for the holidays and birthdays. I'm making crocheted or knitted belts, purses, jewelry and bath salts as gifts. I found some really good websites for the bath salts and belts.

Our main goal is not to spend a lot of money. We'll only spend for the things we need to make the gifts. I have also signed up with the "Blogger Craft Club".

I think that is a great way for me to stay focused and continue making my gifts, without getting sidetracked. Staying on track with my gifts was one of my New Years Goals.

“What Is A Blog”?

Last week I watched NCIS with my dad. Their suspect was the younger sister of one of the NCIS colleagues. During one of their interrogations the girlfriend of the victim was questioned. She explained that the suspect disliked her because the victim used to be the suspect’s boyfriend and now she had him.

She went on to reveal how the suspect had released her anger for the world to see by trash talking her on some “blog”. The interrogator then responded,

Interrogator: What is a blog?
Victims Girlfriend: You know a blog.
Interrogator: No, I don’t know.
Victims Girlfriend: It’s a place where losers waste their time writing about their life and trash talking other people for the world to see.

Later the interrogator asked one of his colleagues “Do you know what a blog is”?

Colleague: Isn’t it something to clog the sink?
Interrogator: No, I mean the blog on the internet.
Colleague: I thought that was what a blog is unless it has another definition.

I found this hilarious. My dad and I thought about my mom and burst out laughing. I don’t think my mom is a loser for blogging because I blog too. Although she spends excessive time reading other blogs and updating her own. I guess it’s one of her “hobbies” if blogging is considered one. Before my mom began blogging I might have answered that question with a similar answer.

It surprises me that with the millions of blogs out there, if you were to walk up to someone and ask them “Do you know what a blog is”? They most likely would have no clue.

Time Does Fly Doesn't It?

THIS SHOULD EXPLAIN EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extr a checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Coke is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water. I put the Coke on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....
Do me a favor. Show this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who I've showed it to. Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

New Years Goals

STAY ON TRACK WITH ALL MY GOALS!

Notice my list is small. I like to overachieve but I know my limits. If I add a lot of other things I most likely wouldn't do them. Although finishing my homemade gifts adds on like 10 other things. Since I have a lot of people I want to give gifts to.

I'm really not sure what it is but lately I haven't been into blogging very much. I don't think that I don't want to blog, but I guess I'm just out of ideas. Apparently I didn't recieve any blogging genetics from my mom (http://proverbswife.blogspot.com/). I see some people write about their lives, but sometimes hearing about other people's lives can get really boring. My mom writes about her life but she balances out between other things. I don't I guess I have to find what intrest me and appeals to others. Have any ideas? Leave me a comment.

Last Thursday I got sick. I had a real bad sore throat, so I wasn't able to eat or drink. I also did not have time to keep up with commenting and my blog. I am feeling much better now. Although I still won't be able to post that much this upcoming week because I will be out of town. I have some post prewritten so my mom might keep you frequently updated while I am gone.

The Kind of Woman I Wish To Be

For exam week it wasn't exactly anything I thought it would be. It was kinda like a regular school week. My mom gave me a list that listed each subject and the things I was required to do. One of the subjects was marked Bible. Under that listing I am required to describe the kind of woman I wish to be. This is what I came up with:
It is hard to describe what kind of woman I wish to be. There are things I want to do, and there are things God has already set for me to do as a woman. I am already set that I want to get married whenever I meet the right person. By meeting the right person I mean a guy that hopefully my parents would approve of. A guy that has a plan for his life, and mainly a guy that is a son of God and is not afraid to show it.

As a woman another thing I want to do is attend and finish college. I would like to take up acting or being a lawyer. Although I feel God has something destined for me working with children, such as teaching or being a mentor. Which I have no problem with, I already work with kids on a regular basis.

My mind is not set on the whole homemaker thing. Although I think whichever woman out there who are homemakers or have decided to be homemakers, that's great! I do want to be a mother though. I want many kids. I want to participate in adopting kids also. I think it's good to have your own children but there are also so many other kids out there who's parents have abandoned them.

Mainly I want to be a wonderful wife. I want to be a woman whom God would look down and smile upon. I want to be a woman who is there for her family and a woman God has set for me to be.

My mom has gotten me hooked on baking. Although lately I haven't been able to bake anything because our oven is broken. We won't be getting a new one anytime soon. So I won't be doing any more baking for a while. But that doesn't mean you can't. The recipe below is easy for young beginner or advanced cooks. It's called Snickerdoodles. It's a cookie and really delicious! This is only the first of many more easy recipes I will be posting on my blog.

Old Fashioned Snickerdoodles

 1/2 cup margarine (1 stick)
 3/4 cup sugar
 1 medium egg
 1 teaspoons baking powder
 1/4 teaspoon salt
 1-2/3 cups flour
 2 tablespoons white sugar mixed with 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

In a large bowl mash together the margarine and sugar. Add the egg and beat until everything is creamy. Add the baking powder, salt and flour. Stir it up until you have a nice thick dough. In a cereal bowl, combine the cinnamon and 2 tablespoons sugar.

Now comes the fun part. Shape the dough into balls the size of a walnut an egg yolk. Roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place the coated balls on an oiled cookie sheet. Using the bottom of a smooth cup or glass, press the dough down to flatten the cookies slightly. Bake them at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. If your oven runs hot, turn it down to 375 degrees. These cookies are great in lunch boxes and for after school snacks.

This week we will not be doing much work just a whole bunch of . This week is the end of our first twelve weeks. So we will be taking some exams and test. I don't think it will be that bad. It should be a relaxed week for me. If you are homeschooled when do you end your first quarter and when do you get breaks? We are doing our breaks the same as our district for public school does them.
